Today I sanded & shellacked the drawer slips and shellacked the drawer panels ready to glue the slips in. I put wax on the sides and slips where I didn't want glue squeeze-out.
Gluing the slips in was pretty straightforward. I just put glue on the sides and slips while they were fitted to the panels, then pushed the whole assembly into place, as shown in the photos.

The next step was to attach the drawer pulls. To keep them in line, I put the drawers in the frame and laid it on its back. I clamped a waxed fence to the top & bottom to align the pulls against and glued them in place, holding them in place with weights until the glue dried. Once the glue dried I started oiling the frame and drawers.

While the oiling process is under way, I started on the linings and ring holders. Usually I use pigskin suede for the lining, but this time I decided to use a deep blue upholstery velvet. While shopping for it at spotlight I discovered self-adhesive foamboard, which does exactly as it says on the tin. I cut the foamboard to size, then cut the velvet to wrap around the sides to the back. Double-sided tape on the sides, folded over to the back, holds the velvet in place.

The ring holders are made from 15mm gap filler rod. I cut them to length and punched out pieces of velvet for the ends with a wad cutter. The material to wrap the rods is cut a little oversize and stuck to the rod using spray-on contact adhesive.

After everything has been oiled, I attached the top drawer cover with screws. The screws go through slots in the cover, to allow for expansion. I also attached silicon feet to the frame.

After giving everything a light coat of oil, I fitted the liners and ring holders. The piece is now complete, except for the removable dividers in the bottom three drawers, which will hold ear rings.

I think you need to add a few more pictures for us mere mortals to ogle Alex.
There can't be too many boxes of drawers like that one around.

The recipient has decided that she doesn't want dividers in the drawer, so it is now finished. To keep the crowd happy, here are some photos of the completed unit.
