    Default A Big Thing I Made

    I was commissioned a couple of years ago to make this display cabinet & book case. The glass is UV protective to preserve the book collection. The timbers are;

    Hoop Pine carcass
    Silky Oak Drawers, total PITA for this purpose wouldn't recommend it
    Albizia (sawdust is an absolute # toxic nightmare)
    Mango
    Snow Gum

    The design is my own unique design and the tricky part was making it in 2 pieces to get it to the top floor apartment. In total it's 4.2m long 0.6m high and 0.5m deep.

    Anyway, if you've got any questions ask away, otherwise, enjoy.

    Interesting use of the different types of timber, the end result looks good with the top curves flowing into the front

    I love it, well done.

    Would like to know why the Silky Oak drawers were a pain?

    Against all of my best efforts the box joints were always a bit hairy. Even with a new bit they were never really a crisp clean cut, all of which adds up to attention to details that should not really need attention.

    I have seen a lot of furniture designs over the years, but this one is very impressive.

    I am sure the client is very happy!
