The abbreviation of a desk WIP
A little job I have at the moment (and getting smaller). The client had this desk and has moved home to a unit so the desk had to shrink or go. So shrink it was.
Always fun taking the saw to someones nice piece of furniture
It has/had 4 small draws accessed from each side with drop covers to dress it up. So two draws got to stay and the other two went.
Most of the cutting back was done with the Japanese Ryoba saw and a 15"crosscut back saw, the top was sliced with the small circular saw. It also has to have a change of colour as the new apartment has a modern sharper feel. The timber is a red Oregon that had been stained with a Teak stain. It has now been sanded back to bare wood, stained with Black Japan (wiped on and then rubbed off) and getting two coats of Cabots floor seal over the top. The last photo shows the Black Japan without the floor seal. Tomorrow will see the last coat, the top can then go back on and back to the client.

Interesting piece and I think the new dimensions suit the design or perhaps the legs much better.
Do I see laminated legs bit strange something I'd do.Mike

Very nice transformation, looks much better as a smaller table.

Hi Guys, yes the proportions are far more pleasing to the eye than before, it seemed a little too square and the legs (yes laminated were too skiny I think. Once the coats of clear satin are on it will start to come to life again (today if my day goes according to plan)

sitting back cuppa in hand diet type snack.

Constructive destruction, some would tell you I am better at destruction than construction Ray had some great Anzacs today, my Mum made them just the way my Nan used to make them, realy flat, thin hard crunchy almost like a brandy snap. Fantastic. One of my dive buddies called in to see me at the workshop and had a coffee and an Anzac, he was very impressed with them.
Didn't get much done on the table today, lots of interuptions. I got another coat on the legs but the top was still not dry enough to put another coat on. Even in the inersanctome with the air conditioning on I couldn't get it over the line so I will put its final coat on tomorrow. I have already laced the can with some terebine to give it the hurrry up. These cool nights and cool days arn't good for glueing or finishing.

I made some Anzacz the other day from a recipe I got from the internet and was thinking they would be like your Mum's which is what I remember my Nan making , but they were not at all like that .
Now I don't want to turn this into a cooking Forum, but do you think you could post your Mum's recipe CHI've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

Neat job Claw!! I too think the proportions are now much better!!
I prefer my Anzacs thicker and chewy, However, ANY ANZAC IS A GOOD ANZAC.

If the secret Nana Hama ANZAC recipe is being bandied about at least let us know here - even though I'm the chief cook at home I don't tend to look at posts in that sub forum
