Default Amazing 300 year old Cabinet work

Last night at our monthly Fine Wood Working Association of WA meeting we were shown this short video clip of a desk made in Germany about 300 years ago.

Where Is This Mind-Blowing Antique Transforming Desk Hiding Its Autobot Logo?

    Definitely worth a look

That is stunning and beautiful at the same time. I do think that whoever made it was on some sort of paranoid, mind bending trip to engineer it as well

There was a thread a little while ago asking "what is Fine Woodwork?". Reckon that this one prolly qualifies.

That video goes with a touring exhibit of Roentgen furniture. There are more.
I just can't imagine, in a lapse of attention, getting beaten to death by my own desk. Even 300 years ago.
WHAM! What will they carve in my headstone?

Man, and here was I feeling self satisfied with a neat dovetail.

If you left a fountain pen in the wrong spot though it would end up buried in the wall.
...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

I wonder what else it does that hasn't been discovered yet.

And I hope it came with an operators manual.

Certainly a remarkable piece,There's a piece in a similar style at Chatswoth house in England made by David Roentgen.
Just think how many workers died as a result of making the ormoulo mounts !
Gold leaf was ground up and mixed with mercury and heated until the mercury vapourised,it makes you think about these pieces in a whole different way.
