Not art just another commission
The art exhibition is a distant memory so now its back to the real world, a bout of diverticulitis to put me behind even before I start but all is good now so onward in the quest to produce more sawadust. This one is a Tasie Blackwood dining table 2.8 x 1.2 ,square cut with slab legs, contemporary.
I have some realy nice 30mm planks from Mal Ward that were just a little shy on length but the very amicable client agreed to go with bread board ends to keep the 2.8m lenght. The top is also to have a thickened edge to keep the square cut modern look. So far I have sliced up the 50mm slabs to make the slab legs, cut the centre rail and blind morticed it into the legs, glued up and ready to take the clamps off in the morning. I have thicknessed the top boards and cut them to length. first two boards are also glued and under clamps. So far so good, should be a very nice table.

Hi Guys, did a bit more today, doweled some more boards on the top and sanded the base ready to put some finish on. Only one more top board to add in the morning. Then bead board ends etc I spent another hour or two getting a couple of the left overs from the art exhibition into another local gallery. Studio 48 in Mackie Ave, New Lambton. Have to wait and see if things sell there. Should have some more pics tomorrow.
Had to cut the knobs off the pipe clamp vice Tony, I kept getting hooked on them when I was going past with the jointer. Its a little better now.
As for weight its not as bad as that Ironbark seat I made, not too bad at all.

Yes TL will be very patable. It will get the polished estapol finish soooo sexy to touch.
I have decided as Mal goes South with his truck loads of Blackwood I will ambush him at Hexham when he stops for breakfast. Slip off all the Blackwood, then tighten the staps back up again.
Next lot of photos, mostly self explanatory, last plank being glued on the left side, flatten, smooth, first sand. The table has thickened edges so a shot showing the side board being glued in and a shot of the bread board ends. I have picked timber with a slight bow so when the centre is pulled in tight the ends will hold firm at coners of the table. There will be about 4 cross braces across the boards screwed up with slotted expansion slots.

That top looks so sexy.
(it's bad that timber does that to a bloke hey? But I freely admit it without shame)
