Thread: Bamboo Ply/Panels

In a couple of months I will make a similar piece, and am thinking of using bamboo. I have searched the forums and the web for information on bamboo, so far without the definitive data I am looking for. Even Bootle gives very little data.

I am interested in the dimensional stability of the product, amongst other things. Some panels are three layers of bamboo, very similar to normal ply; others are one thickness of laminated bamboo with the thin edge facing, and so on. I have lots of questions, for example, can a bamboo panel be treated like MDF, and have a border glued onto a panel without the material moving with temperature and humidity changes? Does the answer change with the type of panel construction? Can doors be made of this product; both with and without stiles and rails?

Can anyone point me at a good source of information about the suitability of this product to make furniture, especially regarding dimensional stability in service and gluing?
