    Default How do bases assemble on shaker cabinets?

    Ok total newbie here. I've been doing alot of reading on shaker furniture, particularly Ejner Handberg's Measured Drawings of Shaker Furniture and Woodenware, and Shop Drawings of Shaker Furniture. All fantastic books, but sometimes the drawings leave a little to be desired.

    I'm looking at a Shaker Apothecary Sill Cupboard. I don't understand how the legs are made / assembled, how the side panels are joined to the front of the base, and how the stiles are joined to sides, and joined to fit flush with the drawers.

    I have a feeling that a better drawing would be worth more than 1000 words but if someone wants to take a shot at explaining it, please do!

    Two books you might look at that discuss shaker construction are How to Build Shaker Furniture By Thos Moser with measured drawings by Christial Becksvoort and The Shaker Legacy by Christian Becksvoort. They may be in your local library.
