BBQ Table from pallet wood
I'm in a posting mood tonight. I have a bad habbit of making things from old scrap timber. Needed a table for a small BBQ we used to cook up lunch on Fridays, so I attacked an old pallet that was delivered with a heap of James Hardie LineaBoard.
Table is laminated from the deck boards, aprons from the stringers, and the legs are 3 pieces of the deck boards laminated together. I used some merbau deck offcuts for the trim. All made on the jobsite with tools in my trailer or on the jobsite.
In the background you can see my fine furniture lunch table made from framing pine and MDF VJ sheeting.

I think you need to get a new barby now to go with that fine piece of furniture. Amazing what you can make from so called junk wood if you make the effort.

Job is done, so the pallet table is probably going to end up in the skip now
There has been a bit of movement in the timber anyway. Given the low quality of the timber and the half ass construction it's no surprise, but what did surprise me was the amount of movement.
Looks like the merbou glued to the end grain has expanded a good 2 - 3mm. It's only glued up with pva, so I never expected the merbou to hang on. However it did hang on one end and has forced the laminated top to split along a join. Just goes to prove the old tested unglued bread board ends are a must to allow for movement.

You needed to use some of the old Shorncliffe wharf timbers you got for the wood club a few years back, they'd have no movement left in them, Cheers, Peter

Still got some of that stuff! Its too good to be using as a BBQ table for a jobsite though!
