Bed Rail Hardware
After quite a few months of not doing much in the shed, I'm about to start building a queen sized bed out of oak. The question I'm pondering at the moment is the best way to attach the rails to the head and foot in a way that allows dismantling. The rails will be around 42mm thick x 120mm wide, and I need them to locate accurately so that various curves line up. The joins must be blind (nothing visible on the outside of the frame).
I've found a couple of candidates on Lee Valley:
Mortise Bedlocks: Mortise Bedlocks - Lee Valley Tools and
Taper Connections: Taper Connectors - Lee Valley Tools
Has anyone used either of these systems? Any local suppliers? Any alternative suggestions?
Cheers
Stu

I have used these Maxilock ™ Bed Fastening System - Bed Brackets for a Sturdy Bed and been happy with the results very solid. I have purchased through bunnings and ebay dont know if thats any help to you though.
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

I have also used the Maxilock bed brackets on a king single. They are great and no movement to date.

The Maxilocks look good, but I have 44mm rails being fixed to 44mm posts so there's no room for them! Leaning towards the Mortise Bedlocks at this stage. Maybe with a pair at each join...
