It is.
Thanks Christos, it is. Its also a lot of hard work.
I'm hoping the table will work out. Whatever happens, the wood is awesome, and it will at least be better than some not-so-cheap Ikea crap or an overpriced table made by slave labour in china. And it will be hand made by me, can't beat that feeling, eh?

That's so very true, can not beat that feeling of making it yourself.

A true darksider are we Corey?
Good to see the work you've put in so far. Apart from the satisfaction of seeing things come to be there is great satisfaction in the physical effort also.

You might be right artme, going well so far but we'll have to wait and see if he has what it takes.
Many start out with good intentions but loose the path.

hmmmm
I can see how that happens . . . I've done more on the toy box than the dining table at the moment because its a bit of a smaller project and is helping me work out how the wood works . . . I have some time set aside for more planing of the dining table wood, (it is a big job, lots of blood sweat and tears - literally - I'm a softie . . .) but for now, heres a couple of shots of the toy box front piece to keep you occupied while I sharpen the planes . . .
Thanks to everyone who's watching this and offering advice and encouragement to a beginner. Hang in there, I hope to blow you all away with the finished table in the not-too-distant future.
Corey

If by darksider you mean no power tools, then yup.
That's part of the reason I'm doing it, not just to make, but the making process itself. I do appreciate powered machines, they are undoubtably easier to make things precise, but for me, now, I love the feeling of how things were done before these machines were around. It's like I am the power, the animating force behind the shaping of the wood. If I had the space, I would have an assortment of powered tools, and hand tools, and use the appropriate device when needed.
Thanks for taking the time to see what I'm doing.

Biscuit joiner and Domino
Great to see the project Corey.
I have a biscuit jointer, with lots of biscuits, as well as Domino - you are welcome to come over and use when you are ready.
PS I also have quite a few very wide sash clamps around the shed.

Slight problem - the #7 stripped out the centre frog screw, the one that holds the cap on.
Anyone got a spare lying around?

It's probably the frog that's stripped, but I'll try it out with a new screw first. Still got the #6, not as long, but I'll make do with it if I have to.

Thanks for the tip sm.
I've also been talking with Hans Brunner - parts 1-10
He thinks the frog may have been stripped, but is generously sending me a screw to see if that solves the issue. Fingers crossed. Thanks Hans.

Big Job - Great Result
I agree with the rpevious posters, make sure everything is flat and square before you go near the glue bottle...then, as I have found with a big square coffee table it'll last for years...mine is 10 years and counting... made of oak.
