    Default bonsai plant stand

Hi, this is a bonsai stand I designed and built for my step son about 4 years ago. The up rights are Oregon and hard wood for the base frame. The plinths came from the Newcastle wood show, the lucus demo area, one slab and cut to size. Cant remember what timber it was. Its was finished and looking great then I had to put this god awful stain on it ( daughter in-laws choice ). I must have used about 1 litre of marine varnish too finish it off. It took a long time to dry, even months after it got a milky ring around the base, where the pots sat.
The stand has weathered very well, but its now back for repair as the glue I used has given way and its now very "wonky". I've recessed the up rights into the base and added an extra support.
I used polyurethane glue this time, its solid as a rock now. The next stage is touching up the stain and re applying the varnish. Any comment welcome.

Hi All, put the finishing touches on the bonsai stand during the week, additional stain and then a generous coat of marine varnish. Delivered to step son's place sat morning. I'm quite happy with the finished result and how it looks with the bonsai's in place. Its been a good project to rebuild something previously built better and stronger. This one will last a lot longer, I'm confident to offer a Two year warranty on this one , but being family I'm sure a call at some stage " the stands a bit wonky again……" !
