A lovely job and nicely burnished too!
Most period multiple turnings I've seen aren't closely matched at all, so I wouldn't worry if you can see small variations. I had a very expensive c.1690 gateleg table years ago and two of the six legs were missing beads..
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Dropped the birdcage spindles off with BD together with a turned top and picked up some black walnut for the second set of spindles.

The oysters I stuck on the edge were about that thickness too (the top ones are about 3.2mm). I made sure the cupping was working in my favour with extra size on the outside face, and for ones that were playing up, after re-sizing the outside, I just left them on the roof of the car (when it was in the sun) for a few minutes. Some stuck perfectly on their own, and I just added some masking tape to keep them steady while drying. The more bolshie oysters were clamped with a piece of Poplar cut to the correct curve. I'm using 'Tsar Bond' - old Soviet era horse sauce that I have a supply of. It's fairly sticky, and a I often wander in from the shed with an odd oyster attached to my fingers!
cheers,
B-D
