    Default BrushBox dining table

I have had this table on the go for a while now and it's finally finished, I normally like to do a WIP as I go but I lost "picture it" and the other picture processing program is a PITA so only a few finished pics of table
Fairly simple in design and detail, its ~1700 long by 900 wide, three boards make up the width, the two outside boards are a bookmatch pair with an odd centre board, it looked the best at the time

The finished changed as each coat went on, started as thinned raw linseed oil, then a maloof mix, then finished with straight poly.

That's a very solid and practical looking table. The Brush Box is one of the nicest looking timbers I've seen on these pages too.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Looks good - BB isn't the easiest of woods to work with, but you seem to have tigered it into shape nicely. I like the clean lines & simplicity. This is a table that should be around long after any of us......

    Hi Pete,

    What they all said. Ripper.

What glue did you use on the top and what do you think of your finish, out of interest, happy with it?

    Cheers

That is one very nice table. The Brushbox timber is beautiful and the design of your table is excellent.

    Hi Pops,
I used exterior pva on all the joins/joints,
the finish was a bit of an experiment, I find that the raw linseed oil gives the timber a darker tone not that the BB needs darkening, and being first on it disappears into the wood quickly and I have a bit left in the bottle I want to use up, then it was applying the Malloof mix then finally just a thinned satin poly that I applied with a wide block wrapped in rag, (this also is a bit experimental) this allowed fast application and some self levelling of the poly, no brush marks or dry edges, no cleanup, just chuck the rag away, the type of rag is important as one that is too fluffy leaves tooooooo many bits in the finish, I think it came up well in the finish.

And thanks for everyones comments and thoughts on the table, it is encouraging when a design comes out of one's head, materializes and looks as good or better than that that was pictured in the head, we see that in the mastercrafts series on ABC at the moment!

    Pete
