First Build
Hi, I'm looking to build my Desk and Entertainment Unit into one peice that is a custom fit to my room (picture below of my design)
I was originally looking at building out of pinewood but i cant find anywhere that has large enough sheets (2400x600mm for top piece), can anyone sugest what i could use and where to get it from? (western Sydney/ Penrith Region)
And im also looking to finish it with a black lacqour if that makes a difference in the choice of wood.
If anyone has some design sugestions let me know
The Left side is left open with the 3 legs for wiring reasons,
Heres the final "Look"
Its not the most exciting design but it fits my needs and the space available
Thanks

Maybe just use ply wood? Try Mister Ply in a street coming off Batt Street in Penrith, near Mulgoa Road.
Cheers

Hi CoronaC,
You asked for design suggestions and I do like you design as a whole, so I'd keep the layout the same. A couple things I would add is a kickboard under what I assume are drawers and a kickboard under what I assume is a desktop PC box(?). Also, the left side that is open, I'd probably try to fill in the gap with a solid piece to prevent dust and things getting in the nook. Other than that, it looks pretty good to me.
I'd be interested to see some photos of the WIP or finished product. Best of luck on your build.

I know you said you wanted a one-piece design, but I suggest you rethink this. I once built a large wardrobe that had to be sawn in two a few years later when we moved house. If the unit is going to stay in place for ever and ever then okay, but just double check.

Mindmaker, thanks for reminding me about the draws, i was looking at that the other day thought that i should move it up a little, maybe ill just bring the front brace foward to create a small kick to bring it off the ground. The only reason im keeping that side part open is access to cables though i might make a removeable peice for it.
Fencepost2, my current setup is a 2 peice, with this design im trying to make a 1 peice that sits flush into the wall/corner and unless i win the lotto sometime soon then i dont think ill be needing to move it else where for a while.
Thanks for the comments
