What to call it???
Wanted to get rid of the wicker chair SWMBO had in the bedroom as it was about 800mm deep and had broken canes that kept attacking me every time I walked past it so I came up with this design. Some Sally wattle and 72 dominos later, I'm pretty happy with the result, but I have no idea what to call it . . . Bench seat? Unpadded-Ottoman? Some sort of table?? At 420mm wide, it's out of my way and at 1200mm long, it holds a lot more bedroom junk than the old chair ever could. Standard seat height so it is handy for sitting on while putting your shoes and socks on . . . when you can get past the cushions and carp!!

According to Wackipedia:
"...essentially a short bench with a shoe storage rack beneath, it was common in larger colonial dwellings. Two people could sit on it while putting on their shoes and for this reason the craftsmen that made them referred to them as @r$e-racks."
Of course I made that up but I think the name is appropriate.
Anyway that's a very nice @r$e-rack TTIT, well done.Cheers, Bob the labrat

If an auctioneer who handles a lot of furniture was listing that in a furniture auction with no idea where it came from
I think it would be listed as a Piano stool . Or Duet Piano Stool.
There's some in the links below with the same ends. I don't see any with the storage rack down low . That's a nice idea .
Makes it very strong as well. Probably doubles the time it will last before needing work if it gets used hard .
Some of those piano stools in the links have hinged lift up seats for holding the sheet music under.
It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of Duet Piano Stools are used at the ends of beds . There's a demand for such seating
in rooms that can take it . I get asked about building such pieces in different styles sometimes.

Glad we got that sorted. Piano stool for those with pretensions or @r$e-rack for those from the other side of the tracks.
Looks good whatever it's called.

It is lovely. I especially like the arms that sweep out.
I'll add that if you need a name it could also be called a luggage bench. As one sometimes sees in hotel rooms to keep your luggage/bags/suitcase off the floor. I made one for our guest bedroom without arm rests or lower shelf but otherwise similar dimensions.

Google agrees!

Definitely prefer TTIT's "guest room luggage rack" by a big margin - hotel's apparently like cheap and ugly!
And if you put wheels on it, then it may become a "suitcase rack".
