    Default Chinese Style Table

Whilst munching away at some pan fried dumplings I was admiring the table I was seated at and thought, I'd like a table like that.....

Wonder if anyone knows where one might find plans for a Chinese style table similar in style as to the ones pictured.

There it is, just add measurements 740 -750 or so high, how many people do you want to seat? and how much space do you have, there is your diameter, keep going..........

It is unlikely you are able to find plans. 2 things you can do are a) study pictures b) learn how Chinese joinery works. Good luck because it won't be easy.

The problem with Chinese furniture is working out how to make the joints. There are very few texts on joint layouts and it is not obvious by looking at them on the outside.

As far as I can see the joints of Asian joinery have a more 3 dimensional nature than western joinery, locking in two directions rather than one.

I'm sure you could make do with m&t and dowels. The carving could be fun.
