Thread: Converting an old pine cupboard

After another bit of a side track there's been a bit more progress on the cupboard. It's not how I was planning on it looking, the match is not very good to the old work but I had a bit f bad finishing advice and got fed up with mucking around further with stains. It's finished with shellac and Liberon wax.
I still have to sort the saw and spokeshave storage and the bottom set of drawers will follow down the track. The right hand side and the lower drawer are yet to be done too, but I've moved in already...
Cheers
Michael

I am not sure that I agree with you. I think this looks fine. It is after all used to store tools.
I will say that a little different. It is used to protect tools.

Andy found your thread, but I don't think my cabinet is a match for yours! You can take credit for the inspiration though!

I'm thanking my lucky stars mine doesn't need anything doing to it! Otherwise it might sit around for a couple of years waiting for some attention....

With tools sitting on tools in my cupboard, I really need to do some more fit out on the cupboard. Finally I got around to fitting a thingamejig to hold the saws in their compartment, why didn't I do this ages ago?. A little while ago I came upon a maple wardrobe base for sale that fitted the base of my cupboard very well and puts everything at a much better height. I rearranged my workshop to improve work flow and in moving the tool cupboard I had to move my wall shelves too. So I tarted them up with some massaranduba lipping, which makes jarrah feel like cheese. The shelves now hold abrasives, finishes, and adhesives close at hand as well as a few misc. tools.
