    Default Cot

    Hello all,

I made this cot for my great niece Charlotte, her parents wanted
a sleigh type design and this is the finished result. The timber is
mostly tassie oak, the end slats are oregan. It's 100% recycled
with exception of the slide fittings. The curved slats are 3x3mm
veneers. The finish is a poly/oil/stain mix.

The rails for the ends are in two sections and i sandwiched the
slats between them. The sides were mortised into a single rail.

I had to improvise the latch with a drawer knob, but it doesn't
detract from the finished cot too much.

    Ready for Charlotte, sleep tight!

    Regards

    Wow. Very nice.

I've been thinking about doing a cot too as I have a little monst^H^H^H^H^Hangel on the way but I hadn't thought of anything so pretty. Way to raise the bar

Hi and thanks, if your going to make one you'll need to buy the mattress first, then the height will be determined by the aus standards.
This cot will serve as a bed/day bed as well in the future so the mattress is quite large. good luck .

My compliments sir, on a simple and beautiful piece. All it now needs is a few nice bite marks and it will be a family heirloom.
