    Hi Derek,

Well I have to admit, they do look mighty fine with all the drawers in, and from single boards. So although it will be 'entertainment cabinet type III' to contemplate, you have two beautiful chests, a matched pair.

Still looking forward to these being completed and polished.

    Cheers

Now she does not want this to be an entertainment centre anymore.

And she still wants an entertainment centre. For the third time! Will someone here please talk with her!

    That's just not cricket!

Are you boasting or what, Derek? Sounds like a truck load of brownie points............

Actually, I am with Lyndy on this one and think it looks even better as a military chest than as an entertainment centre. Beautiful proportions, beautiful material and beautiful craftsmanship. Well done.

    Cheers

    Thanks Perry, thanks Graeme.

Actually, I am rather pleased with the cabinets as they will become. I have a plan to sort out the audio equipment. I can pare this down to an amp and a DVD recorder, which will not take up much room. Who uses CDs any more - let alone LPs? Actually I do both, but these will now find space in a dedicated music room, leaving the livingroom with just a TV.

I am always interested to see how others organise their TV, audio, etc. Post pics if you have them.

    Regards from Perth

This has worked for me in the past.

I wonder how others go about storing boards for several drawers?

I would stack them on stickers, on the basis that I would much prefer them to move before making drawers with them, then have distorted drawers.

I hope all goes well for you with the Kauri, I bought some beautiful quarter sawn, straight grained, stuff a while back to use for Shoji & drawer sides. On the first job, after resawing it behaved like bananas on drugs, & I had around 50% or more wastage. Several others i know have experienced similar problems.

    Hi Basil

The Kauri Pine I have used for the past few years has been well behaved. It has tended to stay pretty flat after re-sawing. I generally only clamp it (as above) when I want to prevent any potential movement over night or a couple of days, especially when the boards are thin.

Today I began sawing and planing them to size prior to dovetailing. You can see them below - the boards are very flat and even thickness (3/8" sides and 3/4" fronts).
