Pausing the video at the 1:34 mark, it looks like they used 4 of these connectors for a mitred join for what would be 600mm deep countertops. If I still correctly remember the formula from high school, the mitred join for 600 deep tops equate to a seam of approx 850mm. So, to answer your quantity question again, for 900mm deep counters, for a straight join (i.e. 900mm seam), I would use 4 at a spacing of around 230mm distance allowing 100mm from each edge. And for a mitred seam (approx 1275mm), I would use 6 with the 2 outer ones 100mm from the edges and the rest equally spaced at a distance of 215mm if my maths is correct. Or, follow whatever is recommended in the installation instructions if it comes with one.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate all the help.
It's a straight join, the single 2400mm panel isn't quite long enough for the bench so I'm adding about another 500mm offcut from another part of the kitchen. The join isn't in a particularly obvious place and the panel is laminated/fingerjointed anyway, so I'm HOPING that when properly aligned and finished it'll mostly disappear.
Good tip about just gluing one side, that should save some frustration! I bought two pairs of connectors so I'll use all 4, that seems like it should suffice.
i'll let you know how I go with it!
