Sixth shot shows my supervisor, PJT, overseeing the vacuum press. At this stage I was still extracting air. Titebond PU glue was used (long open time allowed me to make and press both doors together). Used an 1800 X 600 X 16 mm MDF board as a platern, to keep everything flat. Each door is wrapped in greaseproof paper so glue sqeezed out does not become a problem.

Its a bit intimidating having PJT in the shop. He is so accomplished that beside him I look even more like a novice than is usually the case.

Final pic is of the doors trimmed to shape. The cabinet is lying on its back on the assembly table with the doors resting in their rebates. So, the perspective is all wrong, but the general idea is captured ... I hope.

Again, Thanks to Ian, IanW and Wongo who alerted me to my wood expansion sins and prompted me towards a solution that has now allowed me to make these doors.

    Cheerio!

Here is one of pjt's tables. It is an award winning piece. No ... I don't believe I have paid too much credit. It is gorgeous.

Wish I could laminate like that. Great design and great craftsmanship are a rare combination.

More importantly, Ian, Sweetness and Light likes them. I only wished she's opted to have the doors flare out at the bottom, a rounded top and rounded legs, as originally envisioned; but it's her cabinet.

    Thumbs up

    Tremendous work all round John!!!

I think your design is really good but I wll await the final product before passing
judgement on the doors. At the moment I am not so sure about their shape. Sorry, that's just me.

    Artme,

I agree ... I designed slightly different doors and legs, but the LOML choose what you see. Surely you did not think I would do anything but obey!

    Cheerio!

All finished apart from mirrors to the top cabinet and the push-to-open catches. Will take some pics with a proper camera once the mirrors and latches are on.

I wonder what the missus thinks of the category this WIP is under:

    Big Stuff

Love the cabinet by the way.
