I like the dogs expression as he tries to decide which of the four legs to choose.
Fantastic piece of work as usual.

You must have lead a rowdy life! Actually I've never encountered a toilet mirror that met with the floor. The most common restoration required to them is repair or replacement of the side movements where people have repeatedly over tightened them and stripped the threads, or pulled the screws out.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

I recognised the expression, we had a Norfolk Terrier who liked to anoint anything new especially if it was going to upset me.

A George II Irish Elm Dressing Table – Part Five
The dressing table was washed down with hot soapy water prior to staining it with Van Dyke. When the stain had dried, I polished it all and attached the handles. A good waxing completed the job.
The finished dressing table.
The lipped drawers.
The shaped back.
Ovolo moulding, knee and trifid foot.
Rounded upper leg.
The reason I had to make a ninth ear.

Why the hot soapy water, what does it do? I expect it raises the grain and maybe the soap helps remove any oils etc yet I suspect you may have had other reasons.
The dog chewed on your ear?
Lovely piece Woodwould

Another job done. Any chance of a shot of the underside of the dressing table to see the construction?
