Apparently that Mahogany - more commonly knon as Brazillian Mahogany from my small knowledge - is very stable when seasoned properly.
I have seen an entire house lined with this time same timber. It was rather overpoweringoards were also done in thber. All the staircases and cupboards were made from the same timber. It was rather overpowering.
I have seen massive planks of this also. They were the length of the trailer on a semi, about 1200mm wide and slightly over 100 mm thick. Too big to put in my luggage to et home!

The house was in Campos do Jordan ( The fields of Jordan ) a mountain town in Brasil.
MMy father-in-law took me down to a timber merchant's yard in my wife's hometown of Campos when he found out about my interest in timber. That is wher I saw the massive plank.
I had photos that have strayed from the fold of other huge slabs of timber in Brasil. Angelin Pedra, Tatajuba ( which is canary yellow when cut), and more Purpleheart in one spot than all of us put together are ever likely to see in a lifetime.

Woodwood
That's a very nice looking piece
However what intregues from this distance is the detailing on the frame / decoration between the legs. It looks as though teh grain runs vertically, implying that it's venerred.

So it's a similar grain arrangement to the table you recently made, but a different construction technique.
I eagerly await the WIP pics
thank youregards from Alberta, Canada

Who said anything about a reader? Any reader of this forum would be perfectly capable of making one of these for themselves!
That is very true, but to do so would not be true to the original table I am copying. If the commissioner of the table is likewise unhappy with the drawer arrangement, I shall suggest they take a saw and make an opening in the front of the table and insert the drawers into the new aperture.
I think the secret to operating this table beside one's bed is to place it half an arm's length from the bed so access to the drawer can be accomplished..

Knowing the commissioner of this piece to be no philomath or bibliophile, and being as it will be used as a bedside table, I seriously doubt there'll be much reading done around it. I suspect the table will be purely for housing an alarm clock, condoms and ant-acid tablets.
