    Default Giant dining table

Made this last year and have been meaning to post pics for ages. It's 1350mm wide and 4.2m long with two 1.2m extensions for a whopping 6.6m total length.
It's all American Oak with the dark border in Cambia (heat treated American White Ash). The parquetry is about 6mm thick, laid on 18mm MDF using Techniglue, the moulded border is 60mm thick.
The extension 'trays' are 50x50x2mm box section steel, clad in black Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (almost at slippery as Teflon) running in 75x75x2mm box section steel rails that go the length of the table.
It was made on consignment for another furniture company that we do a lot of work for. They paid $12k for the raw table, final cost to the customer after polishing and delivery was around $25k.

    Thanks
Got these two, I'll get the boss to send me the rest as I wasn't able to go with for the delivery.
It got a distressed/aged and waxed finish, we've found a guy in Hoppers Crossing that does a really good job of it.

That is so nice - kudos.

Where are the extension leaves stored when not in use? Is there a special place under the table?

That is just SO beautiful in every way! I really love the finish too. I imagined at first that it would be a corporate boardroom table or similar but it appears to be in a private house?

For such a large table, i also thought it was for a boardroom. New owners are very lucky indeed.

The leaves are stored elsewhere, storing them under the table would look way too bulky.

The legs are cut from laminated blocks; 180x180mm for the post and 200x135 for the foot. The detail on the bottom of the post is done with a variety of router bits, the main 'S'-curve and the foot are cut on the bandsaw and finished by hand with a compass plane and spokeshaves, then sanded smooth. The 'toe' on the end of each foot is cut out of the offcut and glued on afterwards to make life easier. The post is attached to the foot, and each leg to the next, with 1/2" dowels and PU glue.

Yep, a rather large (read: bloody huge) private house in Canterbury.

Talk about Big Stuff! Fabulous effort Elan - well done. I'd like to see a pic of the finish too - such a difference from the original timber.
