In its final resting place ... I have no idea why the pics are sideways. The originals are right side up and two attempts to upload produced the same result.

Nice job John. I wanted a decent look at this so here's the pictures the right way up.

    OK, Aldav,

What did I do wrong to get the pics sideways?

Or better still. How did you get them the correct way up?

    Regards.

I don't know. Probably took the pictures with your phone, phones are c!@p you know. To get them the right way up I opened and copied them, then pasted them in 'Paint', rotated and saved them. It's just so hard to get a true appreciation of these furniture items when the photos are sideways, or even worse upside down. It's also very bad for the 'older' neck.

There is a glitch with pix taken portrait style. Somebody did explain the technicalities but it escaped me. All portrait pix I rotate in my computers pictures first through 360degs and save a copy. It is the copy I use for the Forum. Otherwise the trick is to only take landscape shots, but that I find restrictive.

A very nice job you have done on the cabinet John. Very well done.

The matching chest of drawers is underway. Construction is the same as the Lacy Undies Cabinet, veneered lipped MDF for the sides and cedar web frames. It uses the same veneers as the Lacy Undies Cabinet. Here it is in its clamp farm.

Actually, Aldav, those photos of the finished Lacy Undies Cabinet were taken with a Canon SLR camera. The phone shots give me no trouble.

    Bugger!

The workshop idiot assembled the carcass for the chest of drawers. The dunce reversed the order of the web frames during assembly, so the two frames with the centre drawer runners for the two short drawers at the top were glued into the bottom two positions.

Putting centre drawer runners into the top two frames is not a difficult fix, but it has miffed me more than somewhat. I have retreated to my study where I have alternately paid bills, looked at my portfolio and sulked.

    Double bugger!

    John Samuel,

Methinks that your "alternative assembly" will be much easier fixed than your portfolio

I'm sure you are right, Yvan. Mind you, my portfolio has surprised me in recent times, coming back very strongly. Essentially, I am back to where I was in February.

Still sulking about the assembly glitch. Took yesterday off to get my motorcycle licence (curiouser and curiouser ... I passed). Not in a workshop mood today, so I'll need to find something to keep me off the streets.

    Carcass finished and drawers made.

    Now for the doors.

    Veneers are on the doors.

Veneer to top is in the vacuum press. Doors shaped today. Border to top gets made tomorrow.

Once the top is on, all that is necessary is finish sanding and lacquer.

Top is in its clamps whilst the glue dries.

    Doors are on.

Hopefully, I'll get the sides of the top shaped today and the cabinet ready for finish sanding and lacquer tomorrow.

The chest of drawers is finished.

First shots are from the front, doors open and closed.

Next shot is from the side. Veneers all round are the same as the Lacy Undies Cabinet.

Now to clean up the shop, which resembles a doss house on a sailor's pay night.

Forgot to post the top of the cabinet, so here it is.
