Post Best Glue for 1.2mm White Laminate sheet on MDF?

    Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone has any glue recommendations?. I want to laminate 1.2mm white Laminate to MDF. I see alot of people using contact cement, but I've heard that 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive is much better?. Thoughts...?

That 3M stuff IS contact cement, just in a spray can...

Also, contact glue is the way.

Hi mate, Any brand in particular you've had experience with?

When you say 'Contact Glue' you mean contact cement?

We bought it in 20L drums at work, honestly never paid attention to who made it I suspect there's not going to be a whole lot of difference between them in the real world, I'd have no issue using any well known brand.

Yes, contact glue = contact cement = contact adhesive

Yep 3M/bear brand has been around for years. You have a choice of liquid or gel. Use the gel as its a lot easier to use in terms of not making a mess if you are a novice. Before you apply the glue you should have thin strips (10mm thick timber) at hand. After you have applied the contact glue to both surfaces and it is touch dry place the timber stripes on board at say 200mm centres and then place the laminate on the strips and square up the laminate giving it overhang with the board then proceed to remove each strip one at a time pressing the laminate down.

I wouldn't use spray-on because (1) its expensive, (2) overspray and messy, (3) uneven spray pattern/s resulting in potential bond failure.
