Grey Ironbark dining table WIP
A new table for a new year, this little one is very light and spindaly (light in looks, not weight) 1.9m long by 925 wide with turned pencil legs.
Forgot to take pics of cutting up the slabs but you have all seen that before, pop the stringline down, cut the first side, square up and away we go. I started the other day but had a bench top to deliver, a scuba tank that was very rusty and needed cleaning back and painting so I have been a bit slow at getting these up (my humble appologise). Grey Iron bark bluuudy heavy sh!!!!t. My back has been giving me greif (too much rest) and trying to drag these slabs around and thickness them down from about 55 - 60 mm to 35 has been a pain. I did a resaw on the small centre slab with the circular saw so it wasn't too bad. Tomorrow I will take the clamps off and flatten the top before turning it over. The edge of the table (underside) has a chamfer cutting back at about 45 deg so once I square it up I'll trim that back. Ok hope you enjoy it its shaping up to be a sweetie.
Oh the blue thing in shot 3 is a little job I picked up today. Just a tidy up, the arched section and the lower section have mirrors in them. The lower mirror
has to be replaced and a few other repairs but I will do another thread on this one.

Ironbark of any type is one of my favourite timbers. It has two problems - weight and splinters.

You're not wrong artme, I have a red spot in my left hand that still feels like there might be a bit of a splinter left that I dug out yesterday and I am going to have today off with the dodgy back. But I think this little table will look great.

G'day Craw, Happy New Year! I was starting to miss seeing your hive of activity. I've questions which I suppose will be answered by sitting back and watching this one unfold but I'm a bit confused with Iron Bark used together with "spindaly" and "sweetie" Hoping your back decides to do the right thing, maybe getting your tanks repaired and getting weightless might help it. That "blue thing" looks good, when I first saw it I wondered what the hell you were up to as I thought it was part of the table build, anyways, all the best and it's wonderful to have a window seat again

From what I can see, that's really nice looking timber. I really must get to know the Aussie timbers.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Here we go again! Hanging on for the ride.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Claw good to see your not slacking off to much, I know how the waters up that way have a tendency to call a person.
Like the strange archthingy in shot No3.

Hi Guys, the back is coming good so will be "back" into it again soon. Gez the audience is growing quickly, I may have to pull a rabbit out of my ar,, hat or a rabbat out of my workshop or something I picked up another couple of old bits of cuttlery and a couple of old post cards at the local antique bazar today. I will attach a couple of these items to the bottom of the table, like I did on the last Blackwood one I made. The clients love getting a little surprise when you show them something unusual about their new piece of furniture. All just a bit of fun

I am watching this and would request that you do not get carried away with a full dinner set under the table.
