Hall Table
Hi,
I usually like to lurk in the shadows of these forums - generally awed by the creative ability of everybody else
But I have done something that I wanted to share.
My wife's sister and husband are in the process of renovating a house.. on the scrounge for free timber I picked off some of their internal wall frames and glued it together

along with a bit of prickly ash from the Canberra Wood show

And made it into this

I hope they enjoy

Very nice, Noddy.
I like the floating top. Can you post a pic that shows how it was fitted, as I have never made such a top.
Cheers!

Now that's a lovely hall table.
Personally I like the slight contrast of wood but not too much. What did you finish it with?

Great job Nobby, the floating top and tapered legs always looks good, and the use of timber from the worksite makes it extra special. No doubt they'll love it.

Awesome Job!!
I just love it when someone uses some otherwise useless material and makes a useful item out of it.
I too would like to see how you attached the the floating top.

thanks for the kind words all
This was where I got my inspiration from for the floating top http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/...sson-in-curves
Simply two cross braces slightly higher than the rails.
@Christos - it's 4 (so far - thinking another couple at least on the top ?) of wipe on poly.

very VERY nice job... Those hardwood framing timbers must have been hard as steel... (hard to shape and smooth) but they come up really nice when finished.
I really like "shaker style" hallway tables... This is not quite shaker, I know, but it has that air about it.
Thanks for coming out of the shadows...
Jorge
