    Default Handles or specifically bolts

Hello brains trust, our current kitchen drawer handles have become tired and no longer trendy. As per the link I am looking for suppliers of the “bolts” as I can make the Tas oak handle. Not sure what to call them and have looked on hettich and Blum, any suggestions?

    Are you talking about these?

If so; they’re called “snap off screws” and are available from all hardware chains. They come in M4 and 5/32” threads.

Check the suppliers of glass panel fixing bolts.

    For example.

if you're going to make the handles... couldn't you just use what ever bolt you want? really there's nothing stopping you from just pre-drilling and using a screw?

but cheif tiff is right, scnap off screws are whats normally used as you can cut them to right lenght.

My interpretation is that you are seeking the stand off hardware to attach to the rail.

Not sure that they are sold separately at least I've never seen them - best advice is to go to a machinist and have them machined to your specs. Will cost $$$ though.

The other option is to use readily available hardware and a contrasting wood to make the stand off's - a good spindle turning exercise.

    Thanks all,
Chief Tiff, snap off screws are not quite the look I was going for. Although I could adapt a snap on cap cover and use a sleeve of brass/copper and a nut on the back.

Bohdan, The glass panel stand off maybe the better option.

haveabeer, as they are going into the kitchen SWMBO wants “pretty” if it was going in my shed no problem.

mobyturns, that’s the kind of thing and yep machining is probably cost prohibitive.

    cheers

well that makes a ton more sense. it sounded like all you wanted was the screw that goes through the rear of the drawer face and attaches the handle unit its self to the drawer font. Those brass/black bits in your pics will be custom made for those handles but wouldn't really be too hard to make, maybe just a bit time consuming especially trying to get it all polished and nice

this person on etsy is selling 4 of them for $20, so at $5 each your probably doing pretty well

    They're nice handles

I doubt you will find just the brass posts other than stand off mounts, which I suspect isn't what you're after (because they require a wood screw through the drawer front when you already have a 5mm hole drilled)... Do you have a lathe, wood or metal will do? They would be easy to make. All you would need is some 12mm brass round, 4m tap, 6mm and 3mm drill bits, and a chuck to hold it in. Or if you have a men's shed or friend with a lathe... Brass is easily turned with woodturning tools... And you can find plenty of 12mm brass shorts on ebay or...

Actually now you mention it. Ya! The 5mm thread will run through the post so a short bolt (few mm longer than the drawer front thickness) will work to secure the post to the drawer front.
