Hi all,
I am looking to do an office fitout and am struggling somewhat with getting anyone interested in doing the benchtop for the desk.

It's basically an 'L' shaped desk with the dimensions being 2800 x 2500.
The 2800mm 'arm' is 700mm wide and the 2500mm 'arm' is 500mm wide.

I know this is going to have to be made in 2 pieces, and most companies I have talked to about quotes want to do it with the join where the 'L' meets.

I don't want this.

Where the L meets will be where the person sits at the desk and will have a radius cut out to accommodate them.

I have been looking on the net and found that particle board comes in sheet as big as 1800 x 3600 x 33 and that laminex comes in sheets 1200 x 3600.

My idea would be to cut the first part of the desk thats 700mm wide including 500mm of the return, then the remaining length of the return from the rest of the sheet.

These would then have the laminex applied and a 2-3mm PVC edging.

My questions:

1 - does anyone know of a company in Sydney who would do this job and not just try and go with the simple approach?
2 - if not I'm going to do it myself (or find individual companies to to the components) so I would need to find someone in sydney to provide the particle board (thiscould be partically cut into componetns to make it easier to handle), the laminex, install the laminex and install the edging.

I can probably cut the particle board.

- is it possible to apply laminex yourself on such a large piece?
- if not anyone recommend somewhere in sydney to do this?
- anyone recommend somewhere in sydney to get PVC edging done?

Cheers
Geoff
