We bought a pretty 1930s 3-draer oak (we think) dressing table with mirror and original hardware a few years ago with the intention of using it as a bedside table. Unfortunately it was from ebay, and we didn't do enough checking when we picked it up so ended up with a borer-infested thing that lived outside until we got the bugs under control. Removing the borer destroyed the original shellac finish. The drawer sides and backs were so badly worm-eaten that they had to be replaced, and a friend of mine with a great woodworking setup at home made new drawers. Himself took the table and drawers to the local men's shed to finish it, as it needs new drawer runners, but the men's shed has now closed up and he has no equipment (in fact, he has no shed) to complete the job.

Roll on three years and this thing is parked in the dining room, unusable except as a horizontal surface. It's now either sell it as is, or find someone in the local area (Geelong) who can make new drawer runners and finish the piece.

Can anyone advise, or guide us on how to finish? I don't have photos yet but can take pics of whatever's necessary.
