Hinges for blanket chests?
Hi Derek,
The hinges are brass plated Prestige brand 'reverse angle butt hinges', from Paddington Hardware in Brisbane. I thought about casting a wider net and trying for some chunkier brass ones, but decided to go for the bird in the hand. They look pretty good I reckon.
The next task is to fit the half mortice lock and find a scrap of brass to make an escutcheon.
The box is going to be my '100 tools chest' (it'll be a baker's 100 ) and is a nice, plain hoop pine box. 840 x 410 x 350mm high. I love hoop, but it might be too plain for some. I haven't put the base or skirt on yet and haven't decided on what to do about handles but I'd like them to be robust but unobtrusive, which is a bit of quandary.
Cheers
Matt
