Haven't done any work over the holidays since the workshop was shut.
But since being back at school i have Routed out my semicircular jig that i will use to laminate two semicircles.
I have decided not to use jarrah as it was too greater a contrast in my opinion. Instead i think im going to use red gum. It is lighter than jarrah and think will suit the huon better.
I have also started to work out how im going to cut the table top. Which peice i want to use, work with what section of the grain, and how i want the seams to look.

Not sure if that image is going to work. Advice on add photos would be helpfull
Cheers,
Josh

Progress
Sorry for the failed attempts of pictures, hopefully these ones will work.
This is cutting the the a jig for laminating to semicircles.
This week i started to work out another jig for the compound angles on the sides of the tapered hexagonal pedestal (picture in first post)
Using a website from a previous post i found all the angles and worked on making it.
The base is cut at about three degrees so that when it is pushed along the fence of the table saw it takes some width from the top coming down to cut off nothing at the bottom.
The supports hold the piece at about 30 degrees so that each of the side will fit together on their new angle. The side planks allow me to clamp the piece length ways so the clamps would hit the guard of the table saw any other way.
After this cut i just need to cut the end grain at 4 degrees using the drop saw. In the end it will hopefully all fit together.

JM I'm not sure what you are doing but when I can see your images, all I see is a thumbnail.
Under the Advanced reply option is the button for Manage Attachments, which when you click will open a secondary window within which you can select and upload imagesregards from Alberta, Canada

JM
your pictures worked ths time
However, I'm a bit worried about your jig and the lack of a guard on the table sawregards from Alberta, Canada

Have been doing a fair bit of work. However am just about to start exams and then holidays so won't get much done for a while.
I have glued the three planks of huon pine together, made another router arm for the radius of the table and cut the circular table top.
For laminating my jarrah circle i am making a practice one with only a few layers. I am making each strip 3 mm thick as the jarrah is quite strong and the risk of snapping is high.
Have been having a bit of trouble with my compound angle jig as it only cuts one edge. When flipped to cut the other side only one of the angles matches. I may have to make another mirrored jig.
