Default Jarrah Frame for Clinker boat table

This was great fun to do. Very tricky with different curves and compounds front and back. I was very happy that I managed to get it almost spot on using some home made templates and trial and error. Interesting that lots of comments were how great it would be for a kids bed.

    Thanks for the replies

I was going to do a WIP, I started and only managed 2 pics then I got to busy and forgot to take more.

The first pic shows 4@ 3mm strips of MDF laminated with titebond and clamped over each end of the boat, once dried they were used to draw the template shapes for the frame as shown in pic 2.

Each end frame were made in 2 pieces with overlapping joins and slightly disorientated grain direction then laminated. It needed high strength as the combined weight of the boat and 10mm glass top is very heavy. The tricky part was cutting the individual recesses as they were compounded. Oh, and no Dominos were used… Traditional Mortise and Tenon on this one.

Lovely work Lignum. I'm amazed someone would build such a lovely boat and not put it in the water.

Frame and boat/table both look terrific.
