Thanks Pete but I think you have more faith in my skill set than I do.
I thought the price at the beginning was over the top but at the end when he finished it and gave the price of the turntable fitments it made sense and when you convert British pounds to oz $ that is serious gear and commitment by the client, something my industrial deafness would never be able to appreciate.

I recall the video on turntable plinths from when I was researching methods to build my own. The woodworker here is excellent in what he does - no nonsense, no pretensions, just first class work. As I have worked out, he builds plinths professionally (lots of Linn plinths), and the staircase rail is in his house, which he is slowly restoring.

If you do aspire to rebuilding a turntable plinth, below is my documentation of the one I made for a Thorens TD150, which was about 45 years old …

I am a fan of his as well - at first I thought he just did a lot of machine/production work which was interesting but little to learn from.

Then I saw the mitred dovetail joints on this build and realised that he does a lot, lot more. See Making a beautiful display case from off-cuts - YouTube from about 5:45

I also love the lack of "hi guys!" or "I like to use here my [brand name] [thingo]" commentary - the work speaks for itself.
