    Default Kitchen benchtop.

    Here's a little job assosciated with a reno I've got going on.
    The kitchen as it was.

    The objectives here were to;
    get rid of the two old cupboards slowly rotting away,
    shelves ditto,
    make some use of the space where the window used to be,
    finish up with workable kitchen while the rest of the reno goes on, probably including ripping up and repouring the floor.

    Out with the old stuff and in with the new bench and storage.

    I made this up as a single unit and slid it into the hole. One corner has a diagonal prop back to the wall but the rest is supported by blocks on the wall.

    Shelves, doors and drawers below will follow once the rest of the job is done, but for the time being, we have a useable kitchen.

    Looking better, I like the way you have left the lime green to show the changes you've made

    Ah yes, the archaeology of renovation. My Time Team experts tell me this dates back to the 1970's.

    Nice job

    I once painted a kitchen that colour, granny smith green - to pick out the detail in some fancy tiles - very quickly decided to pick out a different detail in the tiles ie even before the paint was dry a peach colour if I recall - much more pleasant on the bleary eyes in the mornin

    Yup, a hall actually. The classic lean-to extension across the back of the house. Who needs windows to the outside? In SA the HIA inspectors do! The problem wil be overcome by installing an opening skylight, 'to provide light and ventilation' to the room. The things people do to nice old houses. Still, this is my fifth reno, they keep me occupied from time to time and provide a bit of income too, mainly just undoing or rectifying what people have done 'to nice old houses'.

    Oh, I didn't mention this before, but repouring the floor might involve the use of a damp-proof membrane this time! The things people do!

    I like green.

    That's my favourite colour.
