Default kitchen cabinet doors & face frame timber

    Hi Guys,

After some advice. I am halfway through a butlers pantry which had the kitchen doors and face frames made from some rock maple i had. I need to finish the project and looking for advice on timber to use for the rest of the cabinet doors and face frame. They will be sprayed so appearance is not a real concern. Not keen on pine, never had any joy with it. Looking for something stable . Any ideas?

    Cheers

Sprayed as in painted? Why not just use MR MDF. That's stable

I'm with Samo if you are going to paint it. MR MDF is a cheap and stable product.

If you are going to use a clear timber finish you may wish to get the colour and grain close to the rock Maple. Perhaps NG Rosewood is a workable option. It often comes in the goldish to brownish colours and is a low movement timber, which is one reason I use it often. Shrinkage during drying is only 1% radial and 2% tangential.

I have found "Wood in Australia" by Bootle to be a valuable reference. Although now a bit out of date because more overseas sourced timber is now sold here, it is very handy.

Have to admit didn't think of using MDF. They will be sprayed white. Was thinking perhaps NG Rosewood.
