Default Thought I'd show my dining table American Walnut and Maple.

I finally finished this table, its american walnut with maple legs and strips through the middle and finished with osmo transparent wood wax finish.

I just picked some up yesterday for the chairs i got the following lengths

    140x50mm
    220x50mm
    270x50mm

all boards were 2.4 long @ $68.00 per meter, not sure what the going rate is for wallnut but I have come to learn it's more expensive than most although its pretty nice when finished!

So if you're paying 68 per meter for all 50mm stuff then best to get 270mm wide as you're effectively getting more timber for the same price.

Nice photos by the way. I like the contrast. I did a figured maple table with a walnut boarder and breadboard ends.

What joinery did you use for the base assembly?

Hey yea I hear you but to be honest I think the prices did vary on board size just the invoice was pretty unclear. I used my domino for the joinery as I knew I could rely on it more than my own form of joinery attempts currently.

Well the chairs haven't been as easy as I thought they'd be, I totally under estimated how difficult they are to build.

I'm trying to build Matthew Teague chairs

We pay $5400 per cube from Global Hardwoods; $68/m is about right for the wider ones, but waaaay too much for 140*50

Over the years I have made a number of tables but never a chair. My mind set was to find a plan of a chair that looked comfortable as well as being comfortable. I came upon a chair made by Neil Scobey The plans were very good and had templates to shape the more difficult. It took me 3 solid days to make it. Well when I tested it it came up trumps by being pleasing to the eye as well as being comfortable. (It was his Carving chair. {Dining room chair with arms.})

Prior to this exercise I thought timber chair from shops were over priced. Well I have to eat my words because I know now chairs take a while to build
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod
