    Default Laundry closet fit out

The brief was to fit out a very long (3.8m) but narrow (300mm) laundry closet with a mix of fixed and adjustable shelves, a small storage nook and hanging space. First I relined the closet with 4mm hoop pine plywood. I chose 19mm radiata pine boards and 30mm laminated radiata panel which I ripped down for the upper shelf. The unit was assembled in two halves so it could be pushed down into the small returns at each end of the closet. Once the two halves dropped into place they were stitched together with two zip bolts in the large shelf and a screwed and biscuited bottom centre shelf. Rubber feet keep it free of any water spills and permit levelling. The boards were all prefinished with a good quality water based polyurethane. Of course I forgot to photograph the install until after refitting the four sliding doors.
