Default Just a little bench top

I started this one yesterday but and have three slabs cut ready to joint and thickness. I didn't go there today though as this Grey Ironbark is very hard, heavy and more than a little awkward to put through the jointer and thicknesser on my own. I also didn't want to wear out my welcome with my very patient next door neighbour. I may have a lash at it tomorrow when I can get a hand from Jack Hama and hopefuly my neighbour might be out shoping or such for a while.
Its just a bench top for a kitchen island bench, it will literaly just sit on top of the cabinet and have a couple of blocks screwed up underneath so it can't slide off. I don't want to attach it to the cabinet because if it moves it would tear the cabinet appart. (Crap chipboard cabinet by a kitchen company)

Hey Lig, no but only so I don't upset the neighbours. The plan at the moment is that I will spend Xmas day with my kids, parents and a few select relos on a picnic lunch near Mungo Brush on the Myall Lakes (NSW). We used to spend all Christmas school holidays there before the National Parks basicly closed it and pushed everyone out.
Oops I have to be careful it doesn't turn into a rant

Hi guys, having an easy morning, may go over and have a go later.
Just getting rid of all the small non critical jobs in the left over basket, they don't take long to do but I have had a whole basket full.

Today I grabed Jack Hama and got him to help me thickness and joint the three slabs. They went easily and didn't fight it so that was good. Then a few dowels and glue up. I have also trimed the gyprock template the builder dropped around and marked out the top ready to be cut to its final shape, a streached diamond. The corners will be gently rounded to save any injured hips.

I think you'd have to reverse your car into that to make it move. Looking good so far Claw.
    Happy Birthday for Sunday too.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Hi Tony, bl#&*#y Ironbark talk about heavy, you would only dent your car. I have just trimed the corners but I am about to go back onto the Melbourne order and finish the stool. Mal droped my next order of timber off today so out comes the chain saw and the arbortec again. Looks like the transport will be here Thursday morning for the Melb order so I will have to remove a digit and get a move on.
Thank you for the birthday wishes

Ah yeh, so today while I had nothing to do I marked the template shape onto the bench, then rounded off the corners and trimmed it all up with the circular saw. I now just have to sand the top and around the edges, smooth her all up and pop out and install it. Oh and a couple of coats of Danish oil.
