Marri Slab TV unit (WIP)
been doing slabs work for close to 2 years now, this is my 17th slab work so far, i haven't done any cabinet or any dovetail yet .. which i really wanted to do but dressed jarrah just way too expensive for me at the moment ..
i'd posted a marri tv unit slab before and i sold it. now i'm going to make one for myself!
here we go, i had 3 marri slabs that 3500 x 1100 x 65, but because this house is rented, so i've to move all the slabs to the back with my brother and i've to cut it into half to 3500 x 500 x 65. i really wanted to make a dining table out of it but i don't have enough space to do it, also, very very hard to move the slabs around.
some pictures shown..

a rough sawn slab, this will be the top, mitre joint side edge. in order to have a perfect mitre joint, have to make sure it dressed straight enough or else way too much work to make sure it fits..
1. planner to make sure its straight
2. 80G belt sander to trim off all ugly bits and bring down to a dressed surface
3. 120G orbital sander
4. 2 part epoxy resin seals all large holes

once resin in large holes has been sealed, then sand it down with belt sander to a flat surface. apply resin all over the top. here's the thing, do not go with the wood grain when you spreading the resin. go against the wood grain then you can ensure you'll filled most gum vein. but.. still, once it dry, have to sand it down to 120G again with orbital sander. then apply resin again.. which what i've to do tomorrow
