Can someone pass me a beer, this is thirsty work. So the large split, thought I would do something a little different. It looks a little out of place at the moment but once the timber has richend() up with some finish and it has further embelishment it should look the goods. The infill is 3m black steel plate, rough cut with the oxy, a grind and polish, set down into the timber after some suitable bashing with the ball pein hammer on a piece of trolly line. Well it was a change from sawdust and no LN or LV tools were harmed during the making of this infill

Oh and a few dive shots from Tuesdays little sortie under Swansea Bridge. A friendly little octopus, my mate I dive with Bob (Alias Uncle Fester) and a teaspoon that will no doubt end up in an artwork or table sooner or later

Hi Ray, I'll have to take a more close up shot of the steel, that one doesn't catch the finish. Should come up very nice once the finish goes on. I don't use the oxy a lot these days but after carrying one for 25 years or so in the service truck I would feel naked without one
One of my other dive mates also suggested Dr Evil this morning, also quite fitting. It was about 10 years ago I was diving with Bob and kept thinking he reminded me of someone, at about 26m down I realised who it was and almost drowned myself with laughter.

Ole eagle eyes, that is a grey burl that Mal had on his truck on his last trip. It broke in half and couldn't sell it to the guy who had ordered it so I inherited it. Have to find a project to use it on now.

    interesting gap filler

I think it will look good in the flesh - think I might have to visit this coffee shop

for a more authentic country patch job you'd have to use a couple of different screwtypes and maybe the odd nail

    Hi Nick
I was going to do that but did end up using all neet square drives. It's almost the opposite effect, the scrappy beaten up piece of steel held down with very neet rows of perfect screws. Both would have been very effective I think.

Ok have to get going, must do some work before the next diving sortie this afternoon.

    Hi Claw Hama,

Sure mate, just grab one form my esky, tis always full, but I think the Christmas cake is all gone.

That steel infill is a bit different, I like it. Yes do throw in a close-up shot of it with all those screws.

I like the 'treasure hunt from the deep' photos. Well done, keep 'em coming.

    Cheers
    Pops

Ok, some close ups of the steel embelishment. Got the edge glued around today and err arr went for a dive...again. Oh and got some finish on the underside (of the bench, not the bridge). Ahh and some extreme mountain biking or is that bubbling?

Living in wine country, I can give you all the best tip on how to eat Christmas cake: Take a bite of the cake and, with it still in your mouth, take a good sip of Port. Chew the two together and enjoy the explosion of flavour. You will never eat fruit cake again without looking for the port. Works with combinations of chocolate, chocolate cake, fruit cake, port and red wine, but fruit cake and port is best. Oh, by the way, nice bench!!

My GP taught me to have my Scotch with food a "Fig Newton and dunk it" or a "Tim Tam and suck it through that"
