    Default Murphy bed

Here is a Murphy bed I completed a few weeks ago. I gives us a lot more place the room. I had posted this on the reovation forum, and some said there might be an interest in seeing it over here. Hopefully I have worked out how to get the pics to attach!

    Thanks DJ

sundancewfs, that looks great. Gives me an idea for our spare room when we move next year. Economic climate permitting.

    The mechanism is from Rockler

Here is a good video as to how it works.

I built the bookcases for more storage and as bedside tables. Its built from tassie oak veneered HMR chipboard, solid tassie oak, B/B ply and tassie oak veneered MDF. the finish is Mirotone Mirocat, sprayed from a gravity fed gun after sanding to 320 and sanding between coats.

    They really work a treat.

I have one built in to a wall, using a Haefale (sp??) mechanism, and it works marvellously as well.

Lee Valley also have a range of fittings.

    cheers,

bear in mind the $ has change somewhat since I built this...( hardware kit cost). But here is a link to the renovate forums posting of this topic, where I give costings.
