Pine Slabs
My neighbor just cut down a very large and very old Radiata Pine. He has about 6 large slabs sitting in his back yard, say 80 mm thick, about 800 to 900mm wide and about 1.5 metres long. I've had a look on the net but can't get an approx value.
Does anybody have and idea of what they might be worth, approximately.

Assuming that the slabs are 1.5m long x 80cm wide 8cm thick, then 6 slabs would be around .6 cu mtr. The approx value of NZ radiata pine logs, furniture grade, is about $200 cu mtr.
Approx retail price if the timber was cut and dressed to 190 x 19 x 1.5 metres would be some $648 based on a result of 96 boards 1.5m long, at $4.80/metre.
If you could negotiate you could have a good deal, again assuming that the tree is dead when harvested and therefore at least partially seasoned.
