Record Player Cabinet with Vinyl Storage
After doing a fair amount of other forms of woodworking, I've just finished building my first ever piece of cabinetry.
This record player and vinyl storage piece will form part of a massive wall unit which will cover an entire wall of our dining room. I've been recording the build from start to finish for each of the sections, which I'll be uploading to my YouTube channel. This was very much a learning process, so chances are I'm not necessarily doing everything perfectly so if you see a process I'm doing that could be improved on, I'm all ears.
Was built from birch ply, and spotted gum veneered birch ply.
(this was my first go at doing a voiceover for my videos... pretty scary to do, but hopefully adds value to it in the long run for anyone watching!)

looks great, Id be proud of that.
should the vinyls be on such a splayed angle? Always thought they were meant to be almost vertical to prevent buckling...although an old warped/buckled 78 was always fun to watch turning around as a kidI would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

I like the overall effect.
The through screws I would have plugged, or would not have used at all. But that presumes one has the clamps to obviate the need for them.
Ye olden audiophiles would be aghast at speakers on the same platform as the turntable. That is a fixable problem though with either wall mounting the speakers or some nice floor stands.
And as Tonz observed, I would add some supports for the albums so they stand vertical.

Mark,
That’s an awesome video, thanks for posting,
One tiny little thing I would do,is when your cutting the trenches with your router, if I’m doing something similar, I always if possible use my circle saw to take out some of the waste.
This takes the pressure of the router and bits a bit.
I’ve subscribed to your channel too [emoji6].
Cheers Matt.
Didn’t see any vintage saws in the background lol.

The screws on the sides weren't plugged (and not 100% necessary really given how tight the fit was) - I only added them at one point to help pull the shelf into the dado as there was a 1-2mm gap in there which was causing the sides to bow out every so slightly. They will be covered up by the rest of the wall unit cabinets once those are built so it's only really visible until that's completed - and actually I've done the liquor cabinet too as of a couple of weekends ago, and so now it's only really the right hand side which they can be seen.
And yep I know putting speakers on the same shelf as the record player is not ideal - they'll be moved later on too but still likely in the cabinet just further out to the sides. The room itself has pretty bad acoustically (lot of glass and quite a long space), but it sounds pretty amazing either way and have not noticed any issues having them where they are currently. As far as the record storage goes, I've heard some mixed things about in terms of how important it is to have them standing up properly; but as I build my collection they will be more vertical as there'll be less space for them to lean!
