Default Recycled kwila + SS dining table

    Hi guys,

been a bit quiet for a while, busy with work and this and that but thought i'd share a recent project

a mate was keen to get involved in making something and went and bought some salvaged old 35mm kwila stair treads from a demolition yard. they were roughly 800mm in length and we decided to do a brickwork pattern for the top, recessed into a stainless steel frame+legs.

not much more detail to go into really, we picked out which plank goes where, cut it/machined it all so it fit nicely and glued it up. i then made the stainless frame and we fitted it together last week.

the final dimensions were 2400 x 800 thereabouts, making it a slim 4 per side 8 seater, or 10 seater if you squashed 2 on the ends.

next project which is almost ready is a much smaller rustic style recycled blue gum coffee table, 40mm thick planks with some awesome features to em.

    hope the pics turn out-

    cheers
    corgan

    Nice.

I see that there is a lot of space where the table is located, room for something else?

That is a beautiful table, it looks contemporary and I really like it. I have made a couple of desks and chairs from recycled kwila. It is a beautiful wood.

thanks guys. i agree the kwila is a really nice wood, even though it's pretty common these days, it comes up great with a few coats of finish.

gaza i did the stainless work and helped prepare and glue the top, and most of the sanding/finishing of the top was done by the bloke on the left.

christos there's not heaps of free space on the deck- just a camera angle thing i think. i've got an outdoor coffee table in the corner with a few couches sprinkled around and a bar table in the corner behind the table, the rest is needed as a highway and space for the beer fridge
