Thread: school project-bar

The most popular 3D design program in woodworking is Google's Sketchup. It's popular because it's simple, easy to use, and free. It takes a little getting used (particularly with curves), but there's plenty of online tutorials.

Thanks for the advice on a program to use, just downloaded then and will muck around on it a bit later. And by friday at the latest I will post some of my designs up.

Hey everyone, thought I'd give a quick update for those who are following this, I am deciding whether to or not put a beer tap in, would it be cheaper in the long run? Any thoughts you have on this would be good to hear

Putting in a beer tap isnt always that simple, proper beer pouring taps are refrigerated(in oz anyway).
Cheaper definitely not cheaper than a hired magic box, unless you brew your own in kegs and use it on a regular basis

One of the best things you can do with a bar is to make it a wet bar by putting in a sink.

i love it, making a bar at school. esp since the uproar about yr 12's in townsville getting stubby coolers. don't leak it to the press haha.

wet bar is good idea, incorporate a hidden ice bucket/cutting board as lid into top.
for beer tap, have the design to where you want it, but it is a big outlay, (even for homebrew) with bar fridge, gas bottle, hosing. just make sure there is enough room for everything else apart from beer on tap. although the inside of the L will make for a good hiding place for all that even if it is a bit hard to get to.
more info, what wood? what kind of bar top, is it going to have an above head or all hidden under, space for ; spirits, wine, beer fridge, mixers, wine coolers, wine and cocktail glasses, blender. How big? permanent or moveable.
One idea i did see was to get it wired up with power, and power points by an electrician but have it powered from an extension cord so that you can unplug the bar and move it.
