Four Seasons Blanket Box
This is my 4 seasons chest, different from every view. Surrian Cedar.
This particular box is out in the world and no other pics. Not finished polished
The pattern is scribed with trammel points and carved to a shallow " D " section.
This one was sealed with shellac first then carved and painted. The next one will
have more polish to start because paint got into the pore and end grain. The panel
will also be carved.
I humbly suggest this is an example of the end result transcending the material and joinery,
my constant goal.
Cheers, Bill

Its not to my taste, but I appreciate what you are doing and the strength of the design.
If the new owner likes strength and the dominance of the design, then they are going to absolutely love it.
Also, good to see proper dovetails, not the skinny and weak ones that seem all the fashion.
Did you use trammels in a pantograph setup and transfer a pattern from paper to the wood, or 'free hand' the curves?

Creers Clinton,
I appreciate your opinion. One point is ground like a knife and scribed onto the timber about 1.5mm deep. The ends were scribed form a temporary centre clamped and extended about 125mm past the box. I agree dovetaits must suit the material and the job.Cheers, Bill

Unusual and very interesting piece . It may not fit each and every interior , but this is realy a furniture with a personality !
It's a slow and painful process...the secret is, dont mind the pain.(Ian Norbury)
