sitting ensemble
To go with a six seater table made for my daughter are two four legged benches and two three legged stools. All made from "Vic Ash" with turned legs and wedged through tendons into 32mm tops.

They look very nicely done. I expect the through tenons and their wedges will really shine when a finish is applied. I look forward to seeing more photos.

Thanks Lance and all the likes. I finished them in Tung oil a couple of days ago and as usual the Vic Ash revealed some nice grain features that weren't evident before oiling, well to me anyway. I don't mind the wedged through tennons, some may not but I think they add some interest with the end grain coming up darker. To be honest I'd be happier using 42mm thick timber for the tops because I reckon the leg join would be stronger but 32mm was all I had so It'll be interesting to see how they wear. I'll try and get some pics of them finished soon as I've been more concerned about moving them in and out of the tin shed on these extra hot days we've had lately.

Here's a couple finished next to their table friend. The other bench is sitting in the hallway ready to be called into use when needed and acts as a handy table to put things down as you come in the door.

Fantastic! The end caps on the bench add a lovely bit of interest, and like you, I think wedges add a nice element to pieces.

But wait there's more. What a rush! Just in time for Christmas, our other daughters' request fulfilled by the completion of four three legged stools and one four legged bench seat in White Oak finished in Tung oil.

We have a winner...chicken dinner!
I haven't hurled myself off the roof but I may have if it split the leg through. It may have if the grain was straight but thankfully the White Oaks' grain was tangled enough to hang in there
