Sliding Dowel Joint - Gluing layers with PVA
Hello , I found a reference for a sliding dowel joint which I cannot locate. A dowel is driven into two pieces of timber where the hole in one is offset, the dowel being driven in draws the 2 pieces together. Does anyone have/know wher I can finf a proper description of this joint.
Secondly, in gluing layers of timber with PVA, I have found Glad oven paper is ideal to prevent layers sticking together.
Many thanks
Happy new Year.

The term you are looking for is drawbore.
Here are two excellent videos on the topic:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaEO7WkmQ-Q]Drawbore Pins Part 2 - Execution. - YouTube[/ame]
Watch them in the order given.
I like the baking paper or even plain wax paper as well. I've used it for gluing veneer on to small panels quite successfully.

Drawbore
Hello Mark
Thanks so much. I don't believe it was called drawbore when I saw it, I believe it was a Tage Frid suggestion.
The videos are great. I will have to test the offset, I am using Blackwood.
Again, many thanks.

Pinned Mortice and Tenon
Many thanks, I still remember seeing the term sliding dowel. Anyway, I am doing a complete redo of the shed and sorting stuff out so am looking forward to attempting this technique in the New Year.
Thanks again

was it referring to an knock down joint? that would be the only reason for the dowel to be called sliding
